News & Events SECOND ‘WAVE’ FOR BRIK BARBERSHOP OPENING NEW PREMISES
SEVEN years after opening its doors in Nottingham, iconic men’s barbers Brik Barbershop has acquired its second premises in the city’s Flying Horse Walk.
The barbershop opened in Byard Lane in the winter of 2007 and has since become synonymous with Nottingham’s professionals, students and trendsetters a like – notably featuring in a 2013 music video.
According to Jonathan Felstead, partner at Brik Barbershop opening up a second site is now essential as they simply cannot accommodate the number of people looking for appointments. He said: “It’s great to be as busy as we are, but we currently have to turn customers away because we just don’t have the capacity at the moment.”
The new unit is situated just two streets away and has been acquired in order to cope with demand and act as an overflow to the existing barbers.
Jonathan added: “The second shop will hopefully be up and running in around five weeks’ time and should hold an additional four seats which will mean we can accommodate an additional 150 customers per week.”
Simon Blair from London and County which owns the Flying Horse Walk said: “It’s fantastic to see local business expanding; it’s a testament to Nottingham’s thriving independent consumer culture.
“We have a good blend of independent and nationally established shops within Flying Horse Walk and I’m sure Brik Barbershop will fit right in alongside them.”
Property consultants FHP acted as agents on the deal and have said Brik’s expansion is great news for Nottingham – Matt Reville, surveyor at FHP said: “Brik’s expansion is testament to Nottingham’s growing economy and is a great addition to the eclectic mix of shops located in the Flying Horse Walk.”
The new barbers will open just inside the Flying Horse Walk’s St Peters Gate entrance.
