FOR a cup of coffee which is made from beans roasted in Nottingham, there is only one place to go for your latte or espresso in the city. Nottingham coffee lovers are welcoming new, independent coffee house 200 Degrees to the city centre today, taking on 15 members of staff.

The new coffee shop situated in the Flying Horse Walk on Nottingham’s Old Market Square has been renovated to reveal period features such as stained glass windows and wood panelling which had previously been hidden behind shop cladding.

Emma Woodcock manager of 200 Degrees said: “It’s great to finally be open, we have all been working hard in the run up to make sure everything was in place and now it’s finally here it seems strange to have people actually in here and enjoying the coffee.
“We’ve taken on 15 members of staff who have all been trained to a high standard ensuring our quality beans which have been roasted here in Nottingham can be passed on to the customer.”

Coffee connoisseur Stacy Russell, 28, from Nottingham said: “I’m a huge coffee fan and this place is great, it has a really cool vibe about it and the original features make it cosy and interesting.

“You’d usually find me in one of the big chains, but now 200 Degrees has opened I think I will certainly be coming here more often instead.

“It’s something different to what all the big chains offer and adds something unique to the city.”

200 Degrees offers a range of blends with Arabica beans coming from Guatemala or Columbia that have all been roasted in Nottingham at the 200 Degrees roasting house based on Meadow Lane.

Tim Moss, 29, coffee specialist at 200 Degrees who heads up the roasting operation said: “We use only quality Arabica beans and roast them ourselves to personally ensure that this quality can be preserved and passed on to the customer.

“This crop to cup approach ensures that quality is maintained throughout the entire process and is something we at 200 Degrees are truly passionate about.

“Coffee is a luxury product and that is exactly what is on offer here.”
