Brew Cavern, an independent craft beer bottle shop in Nottingham’s Flying Horse Walk, is getting ready to celebrate its second birthday on 22 October with a free bottled beer tasting.

Matthew Hinton founded Brew Cavern in 2014 to supply a range of local, national and international craft beers, bottle conditioned real ales and ciders from across the world and since then, with Nottingham’s love of beer, the business has gone from strength to strength and now stocks over 350 different types of beer and ciders.

Interest in craft beer has grown considerably in the UK in recent years and Nottingham has certainly not been left behind in the country’s fascination with unusual ales.

Matthew Hinton said; “With the explosion of craft beer onto the drinking screen, it has been an incredible couple of years for Brew Cavern. We have seen many creative brewers producing more and more quality beers which we are proud to stock in the shop.”

“Boundaries have been pushed and forgotten styles rediscovered and reinvigorated. We've seen the excitement for limited brews rise to levels higher than ever with the reclaiming of lager, an invasion of grapefruit flavours and sour explosions as well as coffee and chilli beers.”

“We will be celebrating with a series of free bottle tastings throughout the day on Saturday 22 October at the shop in Flying Horse Walk, follow us on Twitter and Facebook @brewcavern for more details.”

Steeped in history, the Flying Horse Walk is no stranger to beer and, over the years, has been home to five public houses – the Punch Bowl Vaults, the Blue Ball, Eight Bells, the Ship Vaults and the Flying Horse Inn – with the first of many pubs, the Punch Bowl Vaults, dating back to 1758.
