Vivienne Westwood will be holding a special event to celebrate its collaboration with Artisan Fashion.

Guests are invited to attend a special event at Vivienne Westwood in Flying Horse Walk to celebrate the national brand’s collaboration with Artisan Fashion.

The Nottingham store will be immersing customers with the theme of the partnership with African themed drinks, food, music and video, from 6pm to 9pm on Thursday 25 May.

Vivienne Westwood has been working with the Ethical Fashion Iniative (EFI) since 2010, and Artisan Fashion since 2015.

The EFI is a UN fashion project which connects artisans from the developing world to global fashion brands, as well as supporting African designers. It currently supports the work of thousands of micro-producers from marginalized African communities, empowering these informal manufacturers and craftspeople to enter the international fashion industry and gain a reliable income.

They believe in a responsible fashion industry where workers earn a living wage and are offered dignified working conditions, with minimal impact on the environment.

Artisan Fashion is a partnered social enterprise connecting Africa’s artisans to esteemed luxury brands, such as Vivienne Westwood, all over the world. This allows brands to improve, trace and report on the lives of those involved in their production.

Vivienne Westwood uses a variety of traditional and recycled materials from local artisans in Africa for their collections, including Kenyan cow leather, recycled Dhow sails, brass and the dress of the Shuka.

The Nottingham event is free for the public to attend. For more information, email vwnottingham@viviennewestwood.com.
